McAfee® Mobile Security™

McAfee Mobile Security protects your mobile device against threats. It also helps you recover your mobile device if it is lost or stolen.

You can use McAfee Mobile Security to back up data from your mobile device to ensure your important information is never lost. Plus, McAfee Mobile Security blocks risky sites from appearing in your search results to protect you from online threats.

Scan for threats

McAfee Mobile Security protects your mobile device from threats. It automatically scans messages, files, and applications in real-time. If you suspect your mobile device is infected, you can run a manual scan any time.

Task
1 Open McAfee Mobile Security on your mobile device, and then enter your 6-digit PIN.
2 Select Security Scan, and then select Malware Scan.

Get automatic updates

When you use McAfee Mobile Security, you get automatic updates that protect your mobile device against the latest threats. You can also update McAfee Mobile Security manually any time.

Task
1 Open McAfee Mobile Security on your mobile device, then enter your 6-digit PIN.
2 Select Security Scan, then select Update.

Change your settings

McAfee Mobile Security comes with recommended security settings for automatic updates and real-time protection. You can change these security settings any time.

Task
1 Open McAfee Mobile Security on your mobile device, then enter your 6-digit PIN.
2 Press Menu, and then select Settings.
3 Select Scan Settings, and then do one of the following:
Select Scan, and then change the real-time scanning settings.
Select Update, and then change the automatic update settings.

Back up your data automatically

You can set McAfee Mobile Security to automatically back up your data. Remember, McAfee Mobile Security does not automatically back up photos and videos.

Task
1 On your mobile device, open the McAfee Mobile Security application, and then enter your 6-digit PIN.
2 Press Menu, and then select Settings.
3 Select Auto-Backup Settings, then select Enable Auto-Backup.
4 Select the following:
Backup Contacts to back up contacts
Backup Call Logs to back up call logs
Backup SMS to back up text messages

Restore your data

You can restore your text messages and contacts from the McAfee Mobile Security website to your mobile device.

Before you restore, make sure you have a 3G, GPRS, or WiFi connection.
Task
1 On your mobile device, open the McAfee Mobile Security application, and then enter your 6-digit PIN.
2 Select Data Restore, and then select the items you want to restore.

Locate your device and track your SIM card

If your mobile device is lost or stolen, you can log in to the McAfee Mobile Security website to see its location on a map. After you track its location, you can zoom in and see your device's virtual location in street view. When McAfee Mobile Security detects a new SIM card in your device, the SIM card number is updated on your McAfee Mobile Security account.

Task
1 On your PC, log in to your McAfee Mobile Security account at www.mcafeemobilesecurity.com.
2 Click Location.

Access your McAfee Mobile Security account

You can log in to your account on the McAfee Mobile Security website to manage your mobile security.

From the McAfee Mobile Security website, you can back up and restore data to and from your device. Plus, you can wipe out all data from your device whenever you need to.

Task
1 On your PC, log in to your McAfee Mobile Security account at www.mcafeemobilesecurity.com.
2 In the Mobile No/Email field, enter your email address or phone number.
3 In the next field, enter the 6-digit PIN you selected when you activated McAfee Mobile Security.
4 Click Sign In.

Manage your mobile device using text message

You can send commands to your mobile device using text messags to lock and locate your device, and wipe out data stored on your device.

You cannot send these commands to a tablet. If you have a tablet, log in to your McAfee Mobile Security account to lock and locate your mobile device, and to wipe out data stored on your device.
To lock your mobile device, send Secure lock <PIN>. For example if your PIN is 123456, then send Secure Lock 123456.
To display a customized message on the screen when you lock your mobile device, send Secure lock <PIN> <message>. For example if your PIN is 123456, then send Secure lock 123456 This phone is locked.
To lock your mobile device and set an alarm, send Secure lock alarm <PIN>. For example if your PIN is 123456, then send Secure lock alarm 123456.
To lock your mobile device with an alarm and display a customized message, send Secure lock alarm <PIN> <message>. For example if your PIN is 123456, then send Secure lock alarm 123456 This phone is locked.
To locate your mobile device, send Secure locate <PIN>. For example if your PIN is 123456, then send Secure locate 123456. After your message is delivered to your device, you will receive a text message from your device with the link to your device's location.
To delete your contacts, text messages, call logs, photos, and videos from your mobile device and SD card, send Secure wipe <PIN>. For example if your PIN is 123456, then send Secure wipe 123456.

Buy your subscription

You can buy your McAfee Mobile Security subscription on your mobile device.

If you downloaded your McAfee Mobile Security application from a service provider, please contact them to purchase your subscription.
Task
1 Open the McAfee Mobile Security application, and then enter your 6-digit PIN.
2 Press Menu, and then select Buy Now.
3 In Google Checkout, follow the on-screen instructions to complete your purchase.

Manage your subscription

You can renew your subscription from the McAfee Mobile Security website. After you renew, you can update your subscription information on your mobile device.

Task
1 Open the McAfee Mobile Security application, and then enter your 6-digit PIN.
2 Press Menu, and then select Subscription Information.
3 Select Update Subscription, and then select OK.
